About Me

I am a fossicker, a finder, a keeper, and an avid seeker of old and beautiful things. As a maker of bespoke art pieces and surfaces, I feel I’ve found solace and peace in a tactile, honest, imperfectly raw approach.

I both live and work by this. In the new morning’s light, I brew my tea to the imaginings of age-old stone walls and peeling, coloured plaster. From the faded grandeur of mystical places I dream of visiting, to the deepest and darkest inky night skies.

When I create my pieces and the time comes to assemble a vignette, all forms come together to speak and that is the best feeling.

How to care for my backdrop?

Wood

Your background board is sealed with a matte sealant and is water and spill-proof. Nonetheless, care should be taken to wipe up spills in between shoots, a slightly damp cloth or paper towel is sufficient. Boards should be stored away from moisture to protect and prolong the life of the surface. If storing and flicking through boards daily in your prop room, storing with bubble wrap between boards can protect the painted surface.

Canvas

Canvas comes shipped around a cardboard or PVC tube. Tape the edge of the backdrop to this tube and roll it up for storage. You can also store the canvas in the mailing tube it arrived in. Canvas for food styling can be sealed in a matte sealant on request. Portrait and fashion backdrops do not require sealing.

Can boards be double-sided?

Yes, my wooden backdrops can be made double-sided for an adjusted price. Some boards in my store will be double-sided, this will be listed in the description.

At this time I do not do double-sided canvas but might do so in the future.
